Snow on the beach

It doesn’t often snow in Cornwall but the past few weeks we’ve had plenty, much like the rest of the country. 

How the chickens came to Gwithian

A few weeks ago we acquired a new addition to the household – 3 lovely clucking hens. As we have an acre field and nothing is currently being done with it, we've had grand plans for a while to have chickens, sheep and a kitchen garden. The sheep are on hold temporarily as we need to improve the fencing around the edge of the field before we can let leaping lambs loose in there, but chickens are much easier to keep restrained (or so we hope!).

How we became sailors.

Last year, in a fit of lunacy we acquired a boat. People made quite a few comments, ranging from very excited to thinking we were utterly mad. Phrases like “money pit” started to be banded around and for a while we wondered what on earth we had done. The boat in question is a beautiful Newbridge Corrobee called Ragdoll and we got her for what seemed like a crazily small amount of money for an actual boat. She's only 21 feet long so not exactly a massive yacht but she's in good nick and has room for the 2 of us to sleep inside.
