It doesn’t often snow in Cornwall but the past few weeks we’ve had plenty, much like the rest of the country.
The roads have been icy, the frosts have killed loads of the plants as gardeners here are used to not worrying too much about frosts and we’ve had to light the fire every night. However, it’s all been worth it as we’ve been treated to the sight of snow on the beach. Snow and sand just aren’t meant to go together, a bit like oil and water, so I have photos to mark the occasion. There were actually icicles hanging from the cliffs at Godrevy which were pretty impressive. A trip to Godrevy cafe became pretty eventful as we found ourselves skating across the carpark. The lady serving in the cafe was laughing at our shaky progress as we finally made our way through the door. She did make us fabulous hot chocolates though, to make up for it.
The dog thinks the whole thing is brilliant, until she starts slipping on the ice covered rocks. The cat thinks the whole thing is horrific and refuses to go outside. The chickens remain completely unmoved, and have been laying as well as ever. We think it's pretty exciting, though it's possible the novelty will wear off soon.
