Well you can say what you like about the Cornish weather but it's never dull. We had clear skies at night from the end of January until late March and beautiful frosty days. Then they announced that we are in a drought and the rain started crashing down!
I was speaking to local National Trust ranger Nick Holden the other day lamenting this chain of events.
'Ah, but Tyson. This is what the weather is supposed to do. A mild autumn, cold in the winter, followed by April showers. '
He went on to suggest that this summer would therefore be good.
I hope you're right Nick, I hope you're right. I will be buying extra pairs of shorts and flip flops on the back of this. The BBC and Met Office can never get it right but if the horny handed sons of toil from the National Trust can't then who can?
I'll be burning my membership card in protest if he's got it wrong though.
Meanwhile up at Godrevy Point the seals are making a welcome return. There are about 30 who stay year round but when I looked the other day there were at least 70. Well worth investing in a pair of binoculars if you're coming down.
Back in the village the Red River Inn beer festival was a roaring success. So successful that they ran out of ale by 6pm on Saturday!
Lastly if you're in the area for the May Day bank holiday then check out Kernow Vibration play at the Sandsifter Bar on Friday 4th of May. Cornwall's finest reggae band.
Awesome.
